Phnom Penh: US-based Marriott International will expand its portfolio in Cambodia by partnering in the development of a luxury boutique hotel in Phnom Penh.
Marriott signed a partnership agreement with The Khom Hotel in Phnom Penh last week. Wywaza Investment will develop the luxury hotel project that plans to open in 2022.
The Khom Hotel will be part of Mariott’s Autograph Collection, a portfolio of boutique luxury hotels around the world.
The hotel will have 130 guest rooms and suites. The roof top will be home to a skybar.
“We saw a potential market here in Cambodia which is why we partnered with Wywaza Investment on the introduction of The Khom Hotel, the first Autograph Collection brand in this market,” said Paul Foskey, Marriott International’s chief development officer for Asia Pacific, at the signing ceremony.
Marriott has also partnered with local developer Chip Mong Group to construct a Fairfield Inn hotel in Phnom Penh due to open in 2022.
Cambodia’s Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has approved 153 projects valued at $5.2 billion in the first half of 2019.
