US President Donald Trump said US and China trade officials are at pivotal stage in the negotiation process that may result in an unprecedented trade deal.
“Right now, we’re in a very important stage in terms of possibly making a deal,” said Trump at a press conference Friday. “If we make it, it will be the biggest trade deal ever made.”
Trade representatives from the world’s largest and second largest economies are set to meet in Washington for another round of trade talks on Thursday.
“I view China as somebody we’re trying to make a deal with, we have a very good chance of making a deal with,” said Trump.
Despite signs of a global GDP growth slowdown, latest economic data revealed the US added 136,000 jobs and lowered the unemployment rate to historical lows.
Trump quickly tweeted a comment stating the job increases and the attempts by the US opposition party to impeach him from office.
“Breaking News: Unemployment Rate, at 3.5%, drops to a 50 YEAR LOW,” wrote Trump. “Wow America, lets impeach your President (even though he did nothing wrong!).”
