Gov’t Will Expand Visa Exemptions to Boost Tourism Sector

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Tourism has requested an expansion of visa exemptions and extensions to attract more international tourism to the Kingdom.

 

In an inter-governmental meeting this week, Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, said that a strategy has been put in place to increase tourism with one of its main components being the expansion of the Kingdom’s tourism visa for international visitors.

 

Khon also outlined a proposal to increase more flights from India, the origin country ranked third for most tourists arrivals to the Kingdom.

The meeting also addressed ongoing infrastructure problems in Siem Reap that need to be addressed as the tourism sector in the city expands.
